4 Cutesy Ladybug Gadgets for Geeks

Since it's the time of the year to make wishlists, I think it's okay and acceptable to share my want-to-haves this Christmas season. Hehe, I just found the perfect reason, yey! I've been wanting to collect more and more Ladybug stuff so here are the cutesy and geeky stuff I'd love to have:

1. Ladybug Wall Clock
I saw this cute wall clock on a Multiple site while online window shopping for the wishlist of my 'baby' from the office.

2. Ladybug Speaker Dock
Okay, even though I don't own a single iPod or Apple product, I would looooove to have this speaker dock. It's actually called Ladybug, a limited edition made by Vestalife. And what's more, they also have the Ladybug II, this time with black speakers.

3. Red Metallic Ladybug Mouse
This buggy here has been a long time wish as my search for this particular mouse is still ongoing. This is geek in me wanting the spots on my mouse. Photo taken from Geek Sugar.

4. Ladybug Alarm Clock
This alarm clock is sooo cute. Wonder if The Range still has this, just like what Skin Scrubs wrote.

Are there any cutesy or geeky Ladybug stuff you can add to my list?

3 foursquare items I want for Christmas

Foursquare, the geo-location social application has an online store that sells branded merchandise and I think I want to have a shirt, buttons and stickers so I'll be adding these items on my Christmas wish list:

1. Limited edition I Heart Badges Shirt

2. Badge Buttons with the Swarm

3. Badge Stickers

You can also vote for the next limited edition Badge T-shirt Design, just look at the button at the bottom of the website. I voted for Swarm badge, of course because of the bees.

So, which badge would you like to see on a shirt? I'd like to see a Ladybug Badge someday.

I ♥ Pencils and Ballpens with Bees and Bugs

One of the things I love to collect are pencils and pens with bees and ladybugs. They are über cute! Take a look at my recent purchases and gifts:

Jelly Bandz: A New Brand of Special Rubber Bands

Aside from anything with bees and ladybugs, I'm also a collector of special plastic bands. Whatever you want to call it Silly Bandz or Crazy Bands, I like them all! Especially if there is another brand of bands here in the Philippines called Jelly Bandz.

They have released their first collection which includes Sea Creatures, Jelly Dinosaurs, Fruits, Numbers, Pets, Western and  Princess. I'm in search of Bee and Ladybug design so I'm kinda hoping there will be bugs & bees on their next collection.*hint hint*

Thanks to Jelly for leaving a comment on my post. I'll look for Jelly Bands in Tod's and once I get hold of them, I'll let you know.

Things I Learned from the Baguio Jam

Last November 28, I had quite an experience speaking and sharing about Social Media Trends in front of almost 1,500 student delegates at the Baguio Trade Marketing Jam. Yup, more than a thousand attendees. I was sooo overwhelmed! As a newbie in this kind of engagement, I could say that that talk marked a beginning in my career. I felt like I was a teacher, sharing what I learned from the business, from my colleagues & superiors and just like what a teacher of mine in the past said: When you teach, you also learn.

So here are a few things I learned from the Baguio Jam:

1) North Luzon is bursting with promising, talented students and it is a privilege for me to speak in front of them.

2) If there is one thing I might have missed in college, it's not just being part of an organization like the Philippine Junior Marketing Association, it's being active in that org. They are a group of creative, fun-loving people and I'd really want to thank them for taking care of me when we were in Baguio.

3) Holding conferences in Baguio is a very nice idea especially this time of the year. Loved the cold weather!

4) Students who want to pursue a career in marketing, advertising, social media and/or public relations should attend events like Baguio Jam to expand their horizon and increase their knowledge on the field.

The 30 minutes allotted for me was my time to share and give back things I learned to the academe.

(Counter clockwise from the top left)
Venue of the Baguio Jam: Baguio Convention Center, President of Marketing Mixers and President of PJMA with me in the middle, my Plaque of Appreciation called Bulol, the Rice Gof

Great job to PJMA and Saint Louis University- Marketing Mixers for organizing the Jam! Looking forward to your future events!

Baguio Jam

I have been invited to speak about New Social Media Trends at the Baguio Jam, The Trade Marketing Jam on November 28, 2010 at the Baguio Convention Center. Thanks to my colleagues JP Palileo and Misty Belardo for making this possible.

Baguio Jam, a catchy name for the student conference given the popularity of the delicacy in the City of Baguio is presented by the Philippine Junior Marketing Association and Saint Louis University - Marketing Mixers (Junior Marketing Association) for North Luzon students to learn topics and new trends in marketing.

I am actually excited for these kids because it makes me look back my university years and North Luzon has very high potential in developing into a very competitive market.

So let's see how tomorrow goes and hope the students learn a lot from my talk.

The BRGR Burger Project

I'm not exactly a big fan of burgers but when the craving comes, you can't help but satisfy it. Good thing, Bee and I were able to find this new burger place along Maginhawa Street in QC called The BRGR Burger Project.

What I liked about the place is that you could have a burger that way you want it. They asked you to fill up a form so you can check your choice of burger patty, bun, cheese, toppings, fillings and even dressing. You could even give a name to your burger, which I found to be really cute! Mine was Vimella which has a Tofu burger patty, poppyseed bun, mozzarella cheeze, carmelized onions and lots of tomato. Yum!

So, how do you want your brgr? Let me count the ways...

Bee costumes for Halloween

I'm very fortunate to have friends who share bee and ladybug stuff to me since they know I collect such cutesy stuff. One of the things I am amazed at are costumes, both for babies and adults especially Halloween is up and coming.

Below is a photo of a baby in a Bee costume, the baby is soooo adorable. *gigil*

Of course, even adults can dress up. Even I dressed up last year and maybe will do it again. *hint hint*

Silly Bandz in Pinas: Crazy Bandz

Shot with no flash

Great news for Silly Bandz collectors like me! A different brand of Silly Bandz is being sold here in Manila, called Crazy Bandz. Not sure if it's the same Crazy Bandz in the US which are glow-in-the-dark. Inside the pack are 5 rubber bands which costs around P37.50 in National Bookstore.

No need to order online I guess. What do you think?

Pamper Your Feet Spa

Taken with no flash on Beach Scene mode

Last week, I went to get some pampering with my sister Viel at Pamper Nail Spa in President's Avenue. We both had Whitening Pomelo Pamper Me Foot Spa at a promo price of P190 since it is a weekday. Good thing we were the only customers when we got there and we had the place all by ourselves.

4 Ways to do a Garage Sale

I recently joined a Garage Sale with Bee and some close friends, my first time to do this. The experience we had was very enriching and made me want to do it again. This time better and wiser. Here are simple ways I learned on how to turn your old stuff to ca$h:

  1. Remove clothes from your closet that you have not worn for the last 6 months and those that don’t fit anymore (unless you promise yourself that you will go back to your old size…) If it has to go, let go.
  2. Group according to giveaways (those that can be hand-me-downs to your sister/brother/cousin), for-keeps (those that might be a little smaller/bigger than your normal size or that has a very high sentimental value) and to-go (those that you want to sell freely and without any hesitations)
  3. Work with friends or someone you know especially if it’s your first time. They can give you tips on how to prize your items and even buy your own stuff.
  4. Advertise at least a week before the sale day. My friend Ralph Jason who is an event organizer asked for a joining fee of P150 per seller which covers the tables, chair and banners for the garage sale. During that day, there were lots of people already staying under the trees waiting for the gate to open. As what they say, it pays to advertise.

Ahavia Lounge Spa

I have been wanting to go to Ahavia Lounge Spa, ever since i stubmled upon its name a few months ago.

I finally was able to try and get a full body massage. My boyfriend Bee even got there first to try it out with his guy friends and I was surprised to know that their last call is at 3:00AM. A nice way to end a long day and night, right?

So we went and Ahavia did not disappoint. We went there pretty late, almost midnight on a weekend with no appointment. The lady who assisted us asked us to follow her and brought us to a well-decorated dim room. The lighting, ambience and fragrance of the area set the mood for a very relaxing massage. There was a pair of black silk shorts that you need to change to and a bathrobe. I changed, laid down and the next 60 minutes was heaven.

My favorite is the Oriental Massage which costs only P299 for 60 minutes. And man, it’s so good I fell asleep when we flipped over. My sleep was so deep I didn’t even feel the head massage. Maybe next time I’ll try to stay awake, if I can.

John Mayer Live in Manila 10.01.10

Finally, after 10 years of music and 5 months of waiting, John Mayer performed in Manila last October 1, 2010. Manila was the last leg of his Battle Studies Album Tour.

He performed 15 songs including his hits like No Such Thing, Why Georgia Why and Your Body is a Wonderland. He even changed guitars on every song and even used a ukulele (can't remember which though). His repertoire can be found on his setlist here.

There was heavy downpour when the concert started but it did not stop the audience from enjoying the songs. Wish the organizers moved it to another venue. Good thing, the rain stopped pouring after the 5th or 6th song.

If you ask me how the concert was and if I enjoyed it, my answer is: John Mayer is worth the wait, the rain and the peso and yes I definitely enjoyed the concert.

John Mayer (Counting down to 10.01.10)

Less than 10 days before the much-awaited, most exciting concert of the year, John Mayer Live in Manila! After waiting for 4 long months (concert was supposed to run last May 16) to watch him live, John Mayer is finally coming to Manila and perform his award-winning songs. I’m so excited!!! Good thing we have our Golden tickets already!

Posters, billboards and radio announcements and promo to giveaway his tickets are everywhere.

Silly Bandz

The child in me is happy wearing and collecting Silly Bandz, the colorful rubber bands in different shapes. Thanks to my colleague, Misty Belardo who brought home a pack of ZOO ANIMAL SillyBandz as pasalubong from the States. They are the latest craze in the US.

I found out that they also glow in the dark, when I wore them during one of the nighouts. They are not yet available here in the Philippines so I asked some friends and relatives who plan to come home here to buy and bring me more packs. You can order it online but be careful of imitators and fake bands.

Aside from Silly Bandz, other cool brands of rubber bands are Googly Bands and Crazy Bands.

Banchetto

Banchetto, a perfect way to end your night (or start your day!)

The night before the long weekend, I was introduced to Banchetto. An Italian word meaning 'banquet, feast, dinner, huge meal' and it did live up to its name. Banchetto has been called the "first weekly OVERNIGHT street food fiesta right in the middle of the city." From isaw (grilled chicken intestine) barbeque to seafood mixed rice, to puto bumbong (purple rice cake), takoyaki (japanese octopus balls), it's your definition of food trip especially after a gimmick or a long day/week of work. It now has 2 good locations: one along Emerald Avenue, Ortigas Center and the other outside/beside Forum Robinsons, Pioneer St. corner EDSA.

Below is the remaining schedule of events for the 3rd quarter:

September 14-17 Tues-Fri 9pm-6am -- Banchetto Forum Robinsons, Pioneer corner EDSA

September 17 Friday 12am-11am Saturday -- Banchetto Emerald, Ortigas Center, Pasig City

September 21-24 Tues-Fri 9pm-6am -- Banchetto Forum Robinsons, Pioneer corner EDSA

September 24 Friday 12am-11am Saturday -- Banchetto Emerald, Ortigas Center, Pasig City

Sept 28-October 1 Tues-Fri 9pm-6am -- Banchetto Forum Robinsons, Pioneer corner EDSA

October 1 Friday 12am-11am Saturday -- Banchetto Emerald, Ortigas Center, Pasig City

Directions to Banchetto Forum: If you're coming from Makati, take EDSA and turn right to Robinson's Pioneer Mall and you will see Banchetto on your right. Banchetto is right outside the mall and you will not miss the tents and the smoke coming from the grills.

Directions to Banchetto Emerald: Part of Emerald Avenue is closed so it's better to take Julia Vargas. If you're coming from C5, turn right to Emerald Avenue from Julia Vargas. Turn left to Emerald if you're coming from San Miguel Ave.

You can also check out http://banchetto.multiply.com/ for more details and updated schedule.

Can't wait to go back there and bring my friends and family there!
